If you follow me on social media you know that we recently bought a second home in Florida!
Funniest story ever, we had never been to this particular town in Florida before purchasing our home on 30A. Originally we were thinking we would buy in Destin or Panama City (30A is between the two cities) until we saw this one come up for sale.
Our first thought was that it was smaller than we wanted, but it checked off the two most important features- it’s directly on the water and we can sleep #AllwoodPartyof6! In addition, 30a is a gem of an area. It’s quiet. With no fast food. And no street lights. And horrible wifi…. All the things we need for down time as a family. Lol.
So we did it. We bought this little gem of a find…. site unseen.
If you are familiar with the area, we are a short walk to Alys Beach and a short walk to the HUB. There are tons of state parks around and one of only a few coastal dunes in the whole world just a mile’s walk from us on the beach.
We are just so excited for how this home will bless our family and friends. And if our kids end up going virtual for school this year, we will pack up and head south!
The previous owners used the unit as a rental for the ten years they owned it. I’m pretty sure they never updated anything in that time. It is so outdated and we are changing EVERYTHING…. so stay tuned!
My most immediate to-do list is:
- Paint the whole place white
- Change out the flooring
- Gut the two bathrooms (only one bathroom has a shower and it isn’t the master– and that just isn’t going to work lol)
- Rebuild the bunk beds
- Make the 2nd bedroom a bunk room for the boys
- Replace all the appliances and kitchen countertops
- Figure out what to do with the ½ wall of mirror
