We gave the laundry room in our Kansas City home a facelift recently by adding a new modern dutch door!
We had already updated this laundry room about a year ago (as you can see above, check that out here) by getting rid of the brown that was everywhere, eliminating unnecessary cabinets, adding light fixtures and laying down new flooring.
But, even after all that, I just knew I wanted to change the door.
Because the upstairs hallway is a little bit dark, the window in the laundry room is important to give the natural light it needs to open up. I like to leave that door open but I don’t love always hearing the sound of the washer and dryer. But if I shut the door, then we don’t get light.
At first, I had the idea of putting in a door that had a window on it, but then I had an even better idea… a modern dutch door! I’ve drooled over dutch doors on Pinterest for years but had no idea where I could put one…until now!
We also have two precious Goldendoodles that are absolutely perfect in every way, but when we leave the house they like to rummage through the trash. I truly think it’s how they punish us for leaving them..lol.
We started leaving them in the laundry room when we leave so they can’t misbehave while no one is home. But I felt bad having the door all the way shut, so I thought a dutch door could accommodate both issues…the light and the dogs!
OH MY GOSH. This was the best choice we could have made and I absolutely love it. It works perfectly in our laundry room.
