If you have ever wondered if a fireplace can be built DIY style out of nothing..it can.
Recently, I was lying in bed in our Florida home watching television. I couldn’t stop staring at the bedroom thinking about just how bland everything looked. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a gorgeous space with a very tall, slanted wall and a new piece of furniture which looks fun and beachy but I just didn’t love it. If I’m being super honest, it was just so boring.
And I can’t do boring lol.
Fireplace Inspiration
So, I was searching Pinterest for ideas to re-create this space and was absolutely drawn to the idea of creating a fireplace on that big, empty wall. But it would have to be built out of nothing…because there’s no fireplace! I mean, all things are possible…amiright?!
So I texted Christy at The Coastal Concierge and asked her to check with our contractor about building an electric fireplace. I thought a fireplace with a mounted TV would be perfect and I’m not joking when I say two days later they had the frame done.
Here’s what they had done in just days.
I sent some inspo pics for trim and they had it looking like this the following day…faux mantle and all!
I initially chose a blue color (Sherwin Williams Secure Blue) to match the headboard of our bed…….
…but once painted and I saw it with my own eyes, I knew it was the wrong blue.
So I switched it up! I decided to go with a lighter, more gray color (Sherwin Williams Smoky Azurite) and it’s absolutely perfect.
After it was all said and done and the right blue was up, it was super obvious to me that we needed lights to be installed next to the fireplace. (You can find these gorgeous lights here.)
And voila..the fireplace is done!
We actually have a similar wall and fireplace in our Kansas City home and I absolutely love it. It’s sooo me.
Here is a link to the fireplace we purchased off Amazon. Inexpensive and quick to get. It even changes colors. Lol. Yes, it puts out heat (we are in the panhandle of Florida on 30A so nights get cool in the winter for sure) and has a remote.
The Gold Candlesticks are my very own Jennifer Allwood line, and you can find those HERE.
