My friend Samantha purchased this gorgeous stained hutch off of Craigslist.

But, she got it home and felt like it looked like a piece in her Grandmother’s house. So, we painted it black and rubbed back the edges and turned it into a gorgeous black china cabinet!
Samantha painted the inside in a gold metallic. It was perfect with her wallpaper.
It’s definitely not Grandma’s hutch now.
Look at those great lines.
And crystal knobs…
Pick up some round crystal knobs like these here.
….be still my beating heart.
Samantha gets the “Hostess with the Mostest Award” for the year. She surprised us by serving us hard boiled eggs, fresh fruit, coffee and bagels before we ever painted. WITH PRETTY SILVERWARE AND PLATES.
Dude….I felt fancy. Even in my paint clothes.
Thanks, Samantha. Hope you love the black china cabinet.

It looks beautiful! 🙂
It’s amazing. The before was gorgeous and I wasn’t really sure how it was going to get better, but boy did it. A.Maz.Ing. I LOVE the finish, but I REALLY LOVE the feet! I am a sucker for any furniture with claw feet.
How sweet! I wish I had the gift of hospitality like that!
You did an amazing job! Love the whole piece!
It looks so stunning now. Even better than before. You can easily see the fantastic lines on the base. Gorgeous!

What a wonderful transformation. I always learn so much from your posts!!! Did you once paint a laminate kitchen counter? I just saw some paint that claims it is possible – thoughts? Ann
Gorgeous job as always! I love the hutch, but really want to know where Samantha got her black chairs! I decided not invest any more money into mine by painting them and would love to buy some just like hers! Sondra
No it isn’t my G’s black hutch but if it was I would be worming my way towards having it willed to me. 🙂 Great job. Great lines. Perfection

To All4HimKC — she got the chairs off of Craigslist! Bummer!
Oh, my gosh, that hutch is to die for! The shape and lines are so pretty but the finsih totally makes the piece. That and those gorgeous crystal knobs… it looks like the pulls are crystal, too. I would say that is a home run.
That hutch is stunning! The crown molding is to die for. It looks fabulous and I love the crystal knobs & pulls. Where did you get the knobs?
Great Job!
I love what you’ve done to this hutch. I especially love the knobs. I am your latest follower. I found you through domestically speaking. Hope you follow me back.

Gorgeous, Jennifer – as always 😉 Have I invited you to Passion for Paint yet? If not, I apologize. Would so love to have you join us – on the weekends. It’s a small group, but I’d love to have you! (and your projects!)
Hello! I found your site through a comment someone posted on knock-offwood.com. I love what you did with the hutch! I have a cedar chest that I would like to paint like this. I have never painted a piece of furniture, so I am pretty clueless. If you could give some pointers I would appreciate it so much! So I imagine you used a primer before you painted the hutch black. Was it a tinted primer? What is the process of rubbing the black paint back? Thank you so much!

Can you tell me the maker of that hutch?
