A good mirror can make a huge difference! When we were looking at photos of the condo that we bought site unseen (lol I still can’t believe we did that!), I didn’t love the half wall of mirrors and decided it had to come down. It was giving me 1974 vibes.
But when Ava and I went to the condo for the first time for thirty minutes during the inspection, I better understood why people put mirrors in some of the houses that are on the beach!
First of all, it obviously makes the unit look bigger (which we need!). But more importantly, you can see the reflection of the ocean in the mirrors which is so cool!!
So from different places in the house, if I look into the mirror I can see the water. And because there aren’t a whole lot of windows, this is so smart, you buy on the beach for the view of the ocean, right?!
And in that moment the 1974 vibes were gone and I decided I LOVED the mirror but it looked “stumpy”. Like cut off!
I had this idea of extending the mirror all the way to the slanted ceiling line.
The idea was run by my friend Dorrie who is an interior designer and owns Simple Southern Charm and hired Seagrove Glass.
I couldn’t wait to see it on our next trip down and they were literally installing the tall mirror panels up the ceiling when we arrived.
It turned out soooooooooo good.
Extending the mirror to the ceiling wasn’t that big of an expense. If we had removed the mirror, the sheetrock likely would’ve gotten damaged. We would’ve paid the same amount of money for someone to repair the sheetrock. AND we would’ve lost the amazing ocean reflection.
When she came to the condo to help my mom and I do a few projects, Dorrie admitted that initially she didn’t love the idea, but once she got in the space she loved it and it was the perfect thing to do. I FELT SO SEEN AND VALIDATED lol!!!!!
Mirror Mirror On The Wall!
I love that it reflects the light and the water. And I love that it makes the space look bigger.
