Irritated by This and That

Ok, so I haven’t posted in awhile because the hubster was out of town for most of the week probably doing alot of this:
I told you awhile back that I was going to make a wreath that I found at A Soft Place to Land that looked like this:

I was hoping it would help to “usher in spring!” So while I should have been taking care of this:

and that:

I was instead working on this:
(BTW: Have I really turned into a blog dork who actually photographs dirty dishes in her sink?)

My friend Shauna came over to do the floral arrangement on the top for me. She somehow turned this:

Into this:

Thanks Shauna! (P.S. If you haven’t seen her daughter’s bathroom makeover you need to click here… it’s beyond beautiful!)

Here is even a closeup so you can see my perfectly sprinkled glitter and notice I took Kimba’s advice and had the seams of the ping pong balls all turned just so you can’t see them:

It was so pretty…. it made me feel like perhaps spring will one day arrive after staring out the windows all day yesterday at this:
**********************************************************************************

So today we get home from church and as we pull into the drive I see my beautiful pingpong wreath has something very wrong with it. It should not look like this:

And I definitely shouldn’t be seeing at a pile of that:

Can I just say that I am completely irritated????? Apparently the “glaring hot sun” the day after a snowstorm reactivated my hot glue. Seriously, it was only 40 some degrees here today! Is that possible?

If so, I am completely annoyed at THAT!!!

I need help from a professional hot gluer here. I already have a love/hate relationship with hot glue guns. I burned myself on this project. And on my last hot glue project. And probably the one before that too. I did not say “this” or “that”… but I wanted to. And now I double want to. What is a girl to do with this mess????

OMG!!!!! I am not quite awake yet, reading your post with my first cup of joe, and the yellow balls in the bottom of the door made me almost spit my coffee! That would be my lucky completely. I love how it turned out, by the way, what a lovely Spring wreath… I think I’m even going to have to follow your lead and make one myself – but please post the glue trick , I’ll stay tuned!

PS) I love those pictures of the daughter in the dishwasher and the dishes too – photos make your story SO much easier to invision!

This is so funny because I can SO relate to it! Maybe the heat between the storm door and your door just got too much for it! That is crazy! I do love it though and I know you will “heal” it! Have a great day!

try e6000 glue that might work! Your wreath was beautiful before the glorious sun had to do a number on it! Thanks for a great post!

Oh honey! This totally cracks me up. First, the pic of Jason is a great pic of him – very accurate. Ava – cracks me up, she is such a climber…and what a sassy outfit.

Finally, before I make my wreath I need to figure out what happened with the glue and before my kids crush all the balls! 🙂

    Hugs!

This might be one of my favorite blog post ever…it is soooo funny and I can relate in so many ways. Its is amazing how we get sucked up in a project and are oblivious to everything else. It turned out so pretty….my heart pained to see the picture of the balls on the groud! Balls always tend to have mind of there own:) We will figure it out…I found you a turquoise purse by the way, if you cant usher spring in with a wreath….a new purse could work. Thanks for the props…you did all the work.

    What a great post!!!

I’m pretty sure I saw a leopard rug under the table! I am like a moth to a flame when it comes to animal print!

Your husband looks like an American Idol contestant…one of the top 10 for sure!!

The wreath looked great…the balls falling off…priceless!

Once when I was about 14 we went to visit some friends of my parents out of town. These were the days of hot glue frenzy. She had made a blue and mauve wreath to go above her toilet in the guest bath. I accidentally left the overhead vent/heater on. When I went back in many hours later, her wreath had disintegrated and dropped piece by piece all over the toilet. I was mor.ti.fied! Of course, being the typical teenager I was, I shut the bathroom door and pretended I had no idea what had happened.

That was also the same weekend their chihuahua bit my face.

    Good times.

Your wreath is oh so very cute! And the snow…I’m with you on that. Same thing happened here!!!

And that tiny glance I see of your kitchen cabinets – more pictures please! I think I’m in love with them 🙂

We are still laughing!!! You are so funny- truly- it seems stuff like that happens to us all the time!!!! Hot glue is funny- one moment it is fabulous- the next your worst enemy!! It is terrible to use on anything that gets wet (even damp-especially any fabric!)) or anything that warms the slightest!! We should have figured out that hot glue really means tempermental- only -stick-s when- it- wants- to-and-always-burns-your-fingers glue!! hahah!!! We are addicted to GOOP- really- it works- all the time- even when you glue you fingers to the wreath itself!! LOL!!
    blessings,
    kari & kijsa

Do you have a low temp hot glue gun? The kind that use glue that melts at a lower temp? If so, get a good dangerous one that heats up the glue really well. It will stick and the sun will not melt it! Not even in AZ with 120 summers!

I agree with the hot glue gun. It took me a long time to figure out that there are different types of glue sticks for that stupid thing. The ones you buy in bulk singles at the craft store suck. You have to get ones that are super hold. I don’t use anything else… and let me tell you, I’m pretty sure I could glue my tv to the wall with that stuff.
    love the posts…
