I know finding the right backsplash can be suuuuper tricky, especially if you’re trying to pick it via photos AND from hundreds of miles away!! One of the last things that needed to be done for the Beach House kitchen remodel, was choosing a backsplash to compliment the gorgeous cabinets that we were working on.
Take a look at what we did to the kitchen cabinets HERE. I wanted the color of these cabinets to extend to the ceiling and be the showstopper. But for the space below the cabinets, I really wanted the tile and the countertops to be a little softer on the eyes.
Dorrie from Simple Southern Charm helped me from a distance. She drafted an inspiration photo that included my my living room, colors in the beach house and the countertops. Friends, I can’t tell you how helpful something like this is, especially when you’re trying to do this remotely!
Going For A Mother Of Pearl Backsplash Look
I knew I wanted whatever we chose for the tile to have some shininess and some reflective quality to it. And I’ll admit, for about five minutes, I considered a mermaid tile that would turn many different colors. Ultimately, the mother of pearl look won.
The tile I went with definitely has Mother of Pearl qualities and has reflective properties that kind of dance when the sunlight hits it. I am thrilled with this one!
This is called Victoria Pearl & White Thassos Marble Polished Mosaic Tile and this is from an online company called Tilebar.
We made all these decisions from photos and gut feelings and I think it turned out fabulous!
