What’s not to love about a distressed, CREAM island??

We fauxed an island in a new home recently. Ignore the ugly paper on the hardwood floor, etc….. this is how new construction looks while we are there.

So I decided….if I had an island…..I would paint it just like this one.

A soft cream color (in this case Sherwin Williams “Softer Tan”)….

With some gentle sanding/distressing on the edges…

And a chocolate glaze.

With “Venetian Gold” granite on top….just like this.

Yummyyyyyyy……..

I am loving the look of that! Wanting to paint my cabinets white, but wondering how I can pull it off in an Old World style home, I was torn. I think this may be my answer! What brand/color of glaze did you use? You do beautiful work!

Yummy indeed! What’s not to love about this spectacular piece! Is this a model or private home? If it’s a model, where is it? I’ll go stalk it out…I mean check it out!

just like another commenter said we are about to paint our kitchen cabinets. The island you did is are just the colors I’m going for so I, too, would LOVE to know what the glaze was that you used. Is it already mixed? Did you mix a glazing liquid with paint? Please do tell. I will watch here in case you answer in comments. Thanks!

Love, love, love this color! I have been looking for this exact type of finish. Since you shared the paint base color I whipped out my Sherwin-Williams fandeck and took a look — I was really surprised! “Softer Tan” is a lot darker than I thought it would be — almost tan! So that was a good tip. I would have picked the lighter color (like the one above, Moderate White) without knowig better!
    Thanks!
    ~Angela 🙂

Come on Jen – you know I already have a list a mile long of things I want you to do to my house and now I just added another item. Although, this may go right up there to the top of the list. I am in love…you think Mike would replace my current granite with the venetian gold?

HEY! I just found your blog! We just bought a new house. We have the New Venetian Gold counter tops and white cabinets. I have been searching all over for the “look” I want in my kitchen. THIS Is beautiful. Do you mind telling me what glaze you used and if you mixed it or bought it that way?

    Great work!
