I am obsessed with the tissue paper tassel garland.
They can make anything look fancy:
A fireplace my ginormous wall chalkboard, a chalkboard,, a doorway, the side of a bed,… ANYTHING!

This is easy to do and a great GNO idea. So grab your kiddo or a friend and here is what you need: Tissue paper, rope and scissors. That’s it!
First, take a stack of tissue and fold it in half AGAINST how it came out of the package.
Then fold it in half again.
And one more time.
And again.
Now, use a sharp scissors to start cutting “strips” up the paper.
Don’t worry, they don’t stay straight or consistent.
They are a hot mess when you are done so no one will ever know!
Unfold the stack to cut stack in half.
Now you have two sections you can use!
Unfold your sections. Kinda looks like a spider, huh??
Take one piece totally off the pile.
And start rolling it. Like you would a towel.
Mr Magic and I literally made this two-colored garland on election night last year. No one was sleeping so we may as well be crafting. lol.
When you get to the end, start twisting the middle like pictured.
Once the middle is twisted, make a loop with it.
And tie off the top with a matching yarn color.
I used a thick piece of twine to hang all of the tassels from and we alternated colors.
I hung my first garland from an old window.
I also hung a very full red and gold one from my hallway chalkboard … for some extra fanciness!
Here’s a couple Etsy affiliate links if you would rather order a tassel garland pre-made: Great Gatsby tissue paper tassel garland or Antique Gold Tassel Garland.
XOXO,
Jen
