As we were finishing up the remodel on our bedroom I knew I wanted curtains in the master bedroom but not for functionality. You know, straight panel curtains are often like adding jewelry to an outfit —it dresses it up. We have a lot of windows in the bedroom and I thought it would be so beautiful to add color and texture. I really wanted to frame the view of looking out onto the golf course in our backyard, and I think these new bedroom curtains really did the trick!
I have worked with Dorrie from Simple Southern Charm several times before in my remodels throughout the house and I wanted to use her again for my bedroom curtains. When I told her what I was thinking for the master bedroom curtains, she suggested the cheetah print on the bottom, a solid strip, and a different color on the top.
I hired a woman who is an alumni of one of my coaching groups, to make the curtains for me—Judy Struman with Stitches by Sturman. She is local here to Kansas City and has her own shop, and it really made me happy to be able to support a local entrepreneur and small business owner.
Judy came in and took some measurements. Once the curtains were complete, she had someone come in and hang the curtain rods for me as well as hang the panels. I didn’t have to do a thing!
I love that it’s elegant and playful at the same time, and it’s a great frame for all the windows in the master bedroom.
