I purchased this cabinet many moons ago at a garage sale for $50. She was a bit abused to say the least.
And here she is today…. one of most favorite pieces.
A closeup of the crackle in all it’s glory.
Anyone who has ever crackled knows…. when crackle happens… you do a crackle dance. It can be so unpredictable!
Now I just need to make some great Nester tassels. My tassels look puny by comparison! Do tassels intimidate anyone else????
I am linked up to Mustard Seed’s Furniture Friday , Funky Junk Interiors SNS party, Finding Fabulous , Power of Paint Party, The Boardwalk Bragfest, It’s So Very Renovated and Poppies at Play. See many more transformations there!

You did an awesome job refinishing that. Looks really good!
That looks so great. The crackle is perfect. That’s something I am way to scared to try.
I can see why! The curved top makes it so feminine & beautiful to me. You did a fabulous job on the crackle finish & colors. You def. have an eye for knowing what colors suit which pieces.
Ok.
I am not fond of crackle…not a crackle hater, but it does take talent, …or the stars aligning just right… or maybe you have to hold your mouth right (as my mother used to say)
…whatever it is. You got it with this piece. Great job.
I keep scrolling back to look at the crackle…I’m in awe.
Wow! How did you do that? It looks wonderful!..Christine
I have an old matching set…an armoire and a dressing table that I’m sad to say are in poor shape! I’ve been itching to do something with them for nearly 10 years. The armoire is starting to come apart from being moved so much and the veneer on the sides and the back is peeling off of both of them. They’re pitiful, but would really be beautiful pieces if I would just give them some love already. I love the crackle idea. You’ve inspired me to try to get something going on these pieces this spring.
Does a crackle finish help the overall look of a piece if there is a lot of sanding that needs to be done? I need to sand the heck out of these, but just don’t want to. Would the crackle enhance the already “distressed” look of these pieces? Thanks!
Wow, I just love it so much! Wish you lived in the Tulsa area cause I would be your best friend and helper so I could glean all of this knowledge from you! LOL!
ooo…interesting! It gave such a neat texture! I am interested to know what you use the piece for.
That is such a unique piece of furniture. I would love to find a piece for you to refinish for me. I’m looking for something I can store tons of dvd’s in!
I love the nesters tassels…I’ve been a fan of those for quite some time….even tried making some myself. Mine didn’t look like hers…sigh. π
That is a great piece of furniture, love the crackle.
Pretty! I love crackle paint – it’s amazing. That piece of furniture was a STEAL!
$50? I love it so much! You go girly!
What a unique piece! That’s crazy awesome!
The crackle finish is outstanding. And I hear ya, so finicky! Sure does this piece proud.

Wow I am so amazed! It almost looks leopard from far away…it came out gorgeous. I am so scared to try to crackle for fear it won’t turn out π Beautiful!
This is truly awesome!! I love it!

That is one of my favs also!! love the crystal knobs.
This truly is a crowning glory piece. I have tried to crackle and really have never had much luck. Not only do you have the technique down but what a fabulous find. It almost looks like a leather finish. One of the coolest things I’ve seen on here this week.
Very fun, almost looks like leapord print. Shell or bead tassels would be fun. Adding another element. Something different and less matchy, matchy. You did a beautiful job!

This looks great! I did a crackle piece a few weeks ago. I still like it, but MAN was it a chore! It is interesting how DIFFERENT my crackle is than yours… ignoring the colors… just the pattern that happened….
mine is here…

Ok so I don’t know how to reply to your comment so I’m replying on this!
HAHAHAHAHA! I actually thought of you when I was writing about the choice of wall color! I knew you would cringe! Thats the problem! I LOVE it right now. Don’t worry though…I’ll have you paint the walls π if that isn’t against your faux business rules!
See you in the morn!
I have never tried the crackle thing but your piece completely inspires…I want one!

What a sensational piece! Me & crackle – not good friends.
btw, I learned a long time ago faux finishing is an art in itself. Not for me – I just do simple color washes.
Thanks so much for stopping by the other day. Will keep in touch.
omg…wow girl!
It crackled perfectly leopardly!
Love it too!
What is in it?
What an amazing piece of furniture! It looks fabulous now! Great job! Thanks so much for linking to Creative Cats this week!
What a great piece. I love the arched top and the finish is so cool. It looks almost like aligator or something. You are good, girl.
Ooh-I love it-It looks like leather.
A few months ag0==I did a tutorial on how to make tassels and then did a tassel making party a couple of weeks later. It was fun.

Jennifer, I’ve crackled furniture in the past — it’s my LEAST favorite to do because, as you said, it’s unpredictable and a lot of steps and just darn exhausting, but you have mastered it. That piece of furniture is absolutely gorgeous. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a more perfect crackle. Once again — a piece that unique deserves a name. Thank you for sharing her on the Boardwalk Bragfest. She is certainly “brag-worthy”. Enjoy your Wednesday!
I am so awwww inspired by your painting talents….I can’t do that stuff, I can spray paint and do basic, you are very talented~!
I’ve never used crackle yet… you did a wonderful job, as usual. What a beautiful piece too… so unique. Thanks for sharing at the POPP again.
Very nice furniture this is a rear kind of a thing that no one is alike in this world. Thank you for sharing the wonderful ideas.
