One of my favorite furniture pieces in my home

I purchased this cabinet many moons ago at a garage sale for $50. She was a bit abused to say the least.

And here she is today…. one of most favorite pieces.

A closeup of the crackle in all it’s glory.

Anyone who has ever crackled knows…. when crackle happens… you do a crackle dance. It can be so unpredictable!

Now I just need to make some great Nester tassels. My tassels look puny by comparison! Do tassels intimidate anyone else????

I am linked up to Mustard Seed’s Furniture Friday , Funky Junk Interiors SNS party, Finding Fabulous , Power of Paint Party, The Boardwalk Bragfest, It’s So Very Renovated and Poppies at Play. See many more transformations there!

I can see why! The curved top makes it so feminine & beautiful to me. You did a fabulous job on the crackle finish & colors. You def. have an eye for knowing what colors suit which pieces.

    Ok.

I am not fond of crackle…not a crackle hater, but it does take talent, …or the stars aligning just right… or maybe you have to hold your mouth right (as my mother used to say)

…whatever it is. You got it with this piece. Great job.

I keep scrolling back to look at the crackle…I’m in awe.

I have an old matching set…an armoire and a dressing table that I’m sad to say are in poor shape! I’ve been itching to do something with them for nearly 10 years. The armoire is starting to come apart from being moved so much and the veneer on the sides and the back is peeling off of both of them. They’re pitiful, but would really be beautiful pieces if I would just give them some love already. I love the crackle idea. You’ve inspired me to try to get something going on these pieces this spring.

Does a crackle finish help the overall look of a piece if there is a lot of sanding that needs to be done? I need to sand the heck out of these, but just don’t want to. Would the crackle enhance the already “distressed” look of these pieces? Thanks!

This truly is a crowning glory piece. I have tried to crackle and really have never had much luck. Not only do you have the technique down but what a fabulous find. It almost looks like a leather finish. One of the coolest things I’ve seen on here this week.

Very fun, almost looks like leapord print. Shell or bead tassels would be fun. Adding another element. Something different and less matchy, matchy. You did a beautiful job!

Jennifer, I’ve crackled furniture in the past — it’s my LEAST favorite to do because, as you said, it’s unpredictable and a lot of steps and just darn exhausting, but you have mastered it. That piece of furniture is absolutely gorgeous. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a more perfect crackle. Once again — a piece that unique deserves a name. Thank you for sharing her on the Boardwalk Bragfest. She is certainly “brag-worthy”. Enjoy your Wednesday!
