So for Father’s Day this year I was trying to figure out what to get my husband, Mr. Magic. He’s usually one of those people who, if he wants something, he buys it. So it makes it hard on us to find gifts for him. Obviously we just bought a brand new house and we’ve been doing construction like crazy… so I had an idea.
My husband has an obsession with Nike shoes and I knew this when I married him. One of the first trips we ever went on together was touring some Nike “store” in Chicago. He knows ALL THIS STUFF about Nike shoes.

(PS – because I know you are going to ask… Crystal from @TheShabbiestChick is teaching our painting group how to make this lovely Psalm 91 sign! Join us here to learn with us!)
And this weekend, Jason and the boys were trying to buy some new Jordans that were “dropping on social media” (I don’t even know what that means… I don’t even know what language they are talking when they talk about shoes dropping!)
My husband LOVES shoes.
Also we’ve been married 21 years almost. Back when we got married it was tradition that the bride get a fun groom’s cake for the wedding so his groom’s cake was in the shape of a Nike shoe.
When we moved into this new house, I took the lovely pretty big closet. (He wanted me to!) and his closet was in the back of my closet.
We put in new carpet and a beautiful new light
But I was NOT LOVING his shoe situation. They were just on the floor. ALL THE TIME. PILES OF THEM.
I wanted to have an entire wall put together for him for a shoe closet but he didn’t want to lose his closet space for his casual clothes. (His dressy clothes are in another spot.)
So for Father’s Day I put in a mini-shoe closet for him. A compromise.
We teamed up with California Closet and they made enough room to fit a zillion pair of shoes for his closet on the bottom with space on the top for his clothes.
The carpet came from Nebraska Furniture Mart and we picked out the chandelier from Menards. (If you love it I found a similar one here for under $200!!)
The bench I bought from my friend Kenna, she likes flipping vintage finds. If you love it, take a look at this fur bench here.
And on the other side of Jason’s closet is where we added these blingy knobs on the built-ins. I’ll show you how we perfectly centered and drilled those knobs here.
So that was Jason’s Father’s Day gift — a shoe closet for a shoe addict.

XOXO,
