Teal vs Turquoise

I have self-induced “dresser drama”….

A college girl who babysits for me asked me to paint this old dresser for her:

(This post may contain affiliate links for the products I use & love & recommend)

I heard her say TEAL…. and yet…..like a moth to a flame… my hand reached for TURQUOISE.

So, I was going to show you this gorgeous turquoise and black dresser today:

OOPS!! She wanted it teal, so I had to repaint it.

Have you ever banged your head against a beautiful piece of furniture that you just painted???????

Yeah, me neither. But I wonder if it would make me feel better.

So now that I have changed the dresser to teal, you be the judge in which color you like best: teal vs turquoise?

Teal vs Turquoise?

I’d love to hear from you!

All I know is that if my husband has to load this dresser up one.more.time….we may be breaking up.

If you’re thinking about painting furniture, I recommend you start with a good chalk brush – I love these the chalk type brushes and true sponge applicator from Heirloom Traditions and my favorite top coat is this one by Modern Masters.

Wrong color or not, it is beautiful! I’m not one to throw this word around, but I find your work very inspiring. I very much enjoy your bold use of color. Thanks for sharing.

Wow, the detail on those drawers is fantastic. I could hardly notice it before you painted. Maybe she should have provided you a paint colour. I would hate to have to re-do a poece, argh. Be sure and show us the teal when you’re done.

Oh My! It’s beautiful just the way it is…I hate that you feel the need to change it. I can’t even begin to imagine the work you must have put into that piece.

I would hate to start over, maybe turquoise was what was meant to be!!! What is that color?

She obviously has never painted furniture before! Sorry you have to redo…bummer. When I was faux painting in my other career days, I would make the client inital the color. Then if it was wrong, I didn’t hve to take the responsibilit by myself. Hope it works out for you.

I love when old ugly furniture is painted and looks so nice and new. Unfortunately, I think this one was beautiful before it was painted. It makes me sad that that beautiful wood is now covered in paint.

it is BEAUTIFUL!!!! maybe the dresser was telling you it wanted to be turquoise because it knew it would look so pretty that way. maybe it doesn’t want to be teal.

Now has she seen this piece with the turquoise? It’s gorgeous. Maybe she would actually prefer it this way. If she insists on teal, make sure you show that one too! I want to see which one I prefer, although I can’t imagine that the teal would be any prettier than this!
