Holy Scaffolding Batman!!!

This week Jeri worked on what could be our tallest ceiling yet. We had 3 levels of scaffolding 6 foot high each. Plus an 8-foot ladder on top of that. I’m estimating the peak of the ceiling to be at 28 feet…. not a project for the faint of heart.

But Jeri is half cat (she would always land on her feet) and half tight-rope-walker. While I tried not to pee my pants watching her…. she went right to the top and got at it.

I was slightly miffed that the scaffold company just brought the scaffold into the entryway and left. The young brute didn’t stick around to even show us how to put it together (I actually own scaffold that we usually use, but this scaffold had to be higher and we were unfamiliar with how it was to be assembled). I swear…. my boys had better ALWAYS help 4 women set up scaffold. I’m old-fashioned like that. It’s just the right thing to do!

So we had to carry EVERY PIECE out to the client’s front lawn. Then take each piece back in one by one to set it up. It was not fun…. but we did it.

Oh and wait. What’s that???? “The client can’t shut her front door because our scaffolding is in the way?“ Are.you.kidding.me? Insert curseword! Curseword! Curseword!

“Super Joy” to the rescue. She suggested we take the door off it’s hinges …. twist it… slide it past the scaffold and screw it back on.

I will just mention that door weighs more than each of my girls. It’s no wonder they all have arms of steel! The thing was H.E.A.V.Y.

It worked. We got the door back on. The client could shut her front door. I didn’t have to lay on the ground weeping and gnashing teeth because we had to take the entire scaffold apart to shut the door, and then rebuild the silly thing.

“After pictures” to be posted soon. Jeri textured. She glazed. She shaded. I’m exhausted just thinking about it.

Many blessings,
jennifer

Wow. What a day! Or a nightmare. That scaffolding looks scary, and I’m not sure I could be paid enough to climb up there let alone while holding a paint brush above my head. Can’t wait to see what the finished project will look like!

    This post stressed me out!

You guys should have a video called “Arms of Steel” and we would all follow you along doing “faux” strokes with our arms!

    You could make millions!

GS cracked me up with her comment!!
I’m with her, this post stressed me out. I felt like I needed to read it with my arms held out waiting to catch Jeri.

Remember me getting on the scafolding at the Weese house? Remember how I didn’t even want to get up on the second layer of it and was terrified the entire time??? Yah, well I certainly couldn’t get on a ladder on top of all that.

Did OSHA know you were doing this? 🙂

Can’t wait to see the finished product!
