When we first moved into our new home, we were super excited to have a big laundry room; however, the area in which we could hang my clothes was ridiculously small for a family of five.
So we determined that we were going to take out a lot of the upper cabinets, and will put in some floating shelves on one side of the room to make it Pinterest worthy. On the other side of the room, we wanted to just give ourselves more space to hang up clothes.
So, we took the ladder used in Ava Grace’s bedroom at the old house, and repurposed it so we could hang our laundry!
After removing the upper cabinets, the first thing, we did was pulled off the fur. Then Mr. Magic cut it to the right size for our laundry room space.
We decided to hang it just with chain, which we purchased at Home Depot.
You can see the entire procedure on my Facebook live video here.
By using a ladder, we now have two ways to hang our clothes, sideways or up & down.
Also, because I know you’re going to ask … the gray is Sherwin Williams Light French Gray! We love it so much we have painted it throughout the house. Take a look here.

I absolutely love the rustic look of this and I am super excited by how it turned out! It’s just so functional now!!
No, the laundry room is NOT DONE YET. We need a rug, we need floating shelves, we need curtains, we need baskets on the window ledge, but I love giving you guys the behind-the-scenes action as well as the progress photos as we go! We’ll update more down the road when it’s decorated, but until then, we knew you’d love the ladder project.
Stay tuned for more of the Allwood home renovation!

The rungs on that ladder are perfect for this project. The first photo you shared with the furry rungs made me smile. My little girl would be all over that in heartbeat. Cute laundry room makeover.
I was amazed at how you manage to make that old ladder become a laundry clothes hanger. Even me I didn’t realize that this could be possible. You have such a wonderful imagination to make things that we don’t use worth it.
Very practical idea plus it looks great!
