Stenciling and painting burlap fabric chairs

We just finished stenciling and painting these cute chairs!!!

I purchased the set of cuties this past summer at a garage sale.  The material is kind of burlap….kind of tweedish. Does anyone know what it’s REALLY called?

Anyhoo….determined to get on the whole burlap-grain sack-coffeesack-train before I am left behind…I decided to stencil them.

And when I say “stencil them”….I mean “stencil them in my office near my prized zebra chairs and on top of my bearskin rug”.   A paintin’ girl’s gotta do what a paintin’ girl’s gotta do.

The stencil is my first from Maison De Stencil….I couldn’t be happier!!!  They have some amazing stencils on their site! Take a peek!

I used fabric paint and a regular stencil brush.  I always used a 3M spray adhesive to hold the stencil in place. I dabbed at the fabric instead of swirling the paint on. And I promise…..it did NOT bleed!!!

See?  Super cute!  It means “Friends and family gather here” in Italian.  I think. Will someone confirm that for me please? haha!

Ava was shocked that it took me about 15 minutes to stencil each chair.  And then I had one of the girls on my team paint them black.  Let me just say there was quite a brew-ha-ha on my Facebook page about whether I should paint them black, cream or leave them alone.  The black votes won! If you don’t follow Magic Brush on FB….I’d invite you to. It get’s interesting!

So here are the chairs in their new home.

I just can’t get enough of the stencil and the beading!

And if you look reeeeeeeeeeeal close….you can spy with your little eye…. another of my projects in this client/friend’s home.  See that blue beauty in the background that I still love, love??

This was a FUN project for us. Something out of the norm. Do me a favor KC peeps….keep your eyes out for more chairs like this for me, will you? I have another client who would like a set as well!

Happy stenciling!

They turned out great Jennifer! I voted white but black fits more in with their new home. One day I will get me one of those fabulous stencils. Hope your day is better today!;)
