This is the most requested tutorial from those of you who follow me on Facebook and Instagram! So here it is, my full curly girl hair routine!!!
Some of you may know that a year ago I had a head full of curly hair! And then at the beginning of 2020, I lost half of my hair! Read about my experience here. It was honestly devastating. I was using DevaCurl products and getting DevaCurl cuts, but since losing half of my hair, I started a new routine with new products that I’m showing you today!
Thankfully in the last six months, my hair has seen some MAJOR growth. Part of that growth is because of the new hair products I’ve been using as well as some vitamins and oils I’m using. Find full list of links to all the products, vitamins, oils, and brushes here on my Hair Loss Journey blog post.
So let’s get into my FULL wash and style curly girl routine!
Step 1:
Brush your hair before getting into the shower. It helps with the stimulation of hair follicles which helps with hair growth.
Right now I’m using the Aveda Dry Remedy Moisturizing Shampoo! It’s for really dry hair and I love how it helps repair the damage from before when I was losing my hair.
Step 2:
Step 3:
Step 4:
Step 5:
Run a generous amount of Blueberry Bliss Curl Control Jelly Start by flipping your hair upside down and scrunch it in from the bottom. Get another handful of gel and scrunch the sides of your hair. Make sure your hair is still very wet while you scrunch. I usually add three dollops of product to my hair. Use your fingers to smooth any flyways out.
Step 6:
Step 7:
Step 8:
When you are ready to blow dry, scrunch your hair with the diffuser starting at the end of your hair! To avoid damaging your hair, blow-dry on medium heat instead of high! Flip your hair back and forth while you dry to help with volume.
Never blow dry your hair without a diffuser! I have a great travel diffuser for when you are traveling; find it in my Amazon Store.
When your hair is about 80 percent dry, take off the diffuser and flip your hair upside down. Use the blow dryer to hold some air on the roots of your hair. Continue to flip your hair back and forth for the volume.
Step 9:
Step 10:
Step 11:
Run a pick through your hair for the root volume. Start on the side where your hair is thinnest and backcomb. You don’t want to do it too much or it will be fuzzy! Fun fact, I backcomb my hair every.single.day. To me, it’s like brushing my hair or eating breakfast!
That’s it! You did it! Enjoy your gorgeous curls!
