Today my middle child turns 8. And as I look expectantly to his bright future, my heart hurts for days gone by. Days we can’t get back, but I will forever treasure. What a quick journey parenthood is. Thru the endless routine of bed making and word practicing, life happens quickly. Lord, let me treasure every minute. I considered writing a new blog post for his birthday. But yet, I want to be in the moment on his big day today. So last year’s post will have to do. Today…..have a bounce house to enjoy! Happy birthday Easton.
I love that you always wake up happy.
I love that you order calamari for dinner if it’s on a restaurant menu….it’s so bizarre. What 8 year old does that?
I love that you hide little toys in your pockets.
I love that you can eat a entire cantelope at one sitting.
I love that it doesn’t matter to you if your friends are girls or boys…..as long as they are kind.
I love that when I am in training….you will do my 3 or 4 mile running loop on your bike with me. And you don’t give up. And you encourage me.
I love that you take your time choosing friends….and you choose your friends wisely.
I love that you talk about Heaven and who we will see and what we will do and at 8….you are already sensitive to the things of the Lord.
I love that you have always been content to make a fort out of a blanket or a sword out of a cardboard tube….you are happy with just the little things. As your Mom…that blesses me. Thank you.
I love that you have a little lisp.
I love that you are not a follower. You rarely give in to peer pressure. Lord let that always be so!
I love that you have few enough freckles that I could count them but enough freckles to make you adorable.
I love that your love language is “physical touch”. You love to cuddle me.
I love that every teacher you have ever had in preschool and elementary school each has said things like “I wish I had a whole class of Easton’s“.
I love that I hear you in your bed at night making noises at you pretend to have a war between 2 little “guys” or “super heroes”.
I love that you have always been able to entertain yourself. Your imagination is amazing.
I love that you call my wrinkles “tiger scratches”.
I love that you don’t have an arrogant or mean or malicious bone in your body.
I love that you can dance. And dance WELL!
I love that you like to sleep in weird places like in your closet. Who cares, right buddy?
I love that you climb trees whenever you can.
I love that you will try new things. You even asked to try a clam in Florida. And you did…
I love that you want me to home school you just so “we can spend more time together”.
I love that you are as disgusted by school lunches as I am.
I love that you want to visit Bethlehem and Mount Rushmore. I hope I can take you to both.
I love that you instinctively steer clear of kids who get in trouble and you avoid drama.
I love that you don’t eat meat….except McDonald’s chicken nuggets….and that ain’t meat.
I love that you are mine!
Easton,
You are such a sweet boy and I am blessed to be your mother. Each of the 2920 days of your life, you have been a pure joy to raise. I love you deeply.
Love,
Mom

This was beautiful. What a special boy. I feel like I know Easton now ๐ How sweet.
This post made me cry! What a sweet relationship you two have!! We should all write blogs about our kids on a regular basis!!!
This is beautiful. I started tearing up the second line. By the fifth, tears were full forming. He is a remarkable boy and I can only imagine the young man he will be one day. I have added him to my 10/29 birthday prayer list (it’s also two friends and my mom’s birthday!). Praying for God’s protection over Easton. Thanks for sharing these wonderful things about your son.
Blessings,
Jackie
Wow!! I love this boy and I’ve never met him. What a testament to a mother’s love. It made me both happy and sad. I have a son with autism who will never do some of the things you spoke of, yet if he could I think he would be very much like Easton. You are truly blessed. I love your posts. They are so genuine, encouraging and transparent.

Happy Birthday to such a wonderful little man. One who is wise at the ripe age of 7. Maybe he is wise and so wonderful because he was raised by you and your hubby! Apples don’t fall far from the tree! I think Mother’s should be wished a Happy Birth-day too!

Happy birthday, Easton! What a beautiful post. My son has recently moved out and this post has me crying. What a wonderful young man you have as a son ans what a lucky guy he is to have you as his Mom.
I don’t comment on that many posts even though I look at blogs every day. I just had to let you know. I loved reading this about a boy that I don’t even know on a blog that I just happened upon. He reminds me of boy named Steven who was just as sweet and had so much in common with him that it is eerie. I think there were only 2 things about Steven and your Easton that didn’t match up. Wow! I have been having a terrible time missing this boy and it was a sweet reminder of ALL the things he was. He went to be with the Lord 4 1/2 years ago at the age of 15. Just to let you know, Steven was still all those things at 15 that he was at your sons age. He still even kissed me goodbye in front of his friends. ๐ Thank you for sharing your son with all of us. It is rare to find one so special. Happy Birthday Easton!!!
Beautiful post….as a mother of 2 boys…i just loved it ๐

Oh goodness! I love this! It made me cry, dang it! ๐
That is the most priceless post you have ever done. I am crying my eyes out. What a sweet gift from God Easton easy and he is so lucky to have a mother that loves him so.
Love it so much! Ari’s 7th bday party is this evening. Easton’s baby pics remind me of Ari…blonde, chubby, blue-eyed. They have some things in common now too. Enjoy!
I loved this post when I read it last year and I love it just as much this year. I think it’s mainly because my 10 year old stepson’s name is Easton and they sound like the same sweet boys. I love his sweet heart to pieces. Happy birthday to him!!
What a great post about a precious young man. I’d want a whole classroom full of Eastons, too! Happy birthday to your little man.
BTW, I talked to you awhile ago about wanting to start running. I always came up with excuses. Guess what? My husband and I ran our first 5K in September and in two weeks we will be running a 10K. Thanks for you encouragement and inspiration. ๐
