Habitat for Humanity ReStore – my trip with Ava

Ava accompanied me this week to the Habitat for Humanity ReStore.

I know, I know…. what kind of mom lets her daughter sit in the back of the cart without a safety belt on?

And what kind of mom walks away from the cart just to take her picture?

(She was safe… I promise. I stuck right next to her just to be sure we didn’t loose that feathered hair piece she was sportin’.)

If you are a faux finisher or just need some old cabinet doors to practice faux finishing on…. this is a great place to purchase them.

White cabinet doors…. $1 each.

They also have tons of old oak doors for the same price. These are what I use for most of my samples.

They have tile squares to practice fauxing over (something we do on occasion)…. $.30 – $2.00 depending on the tile.

Paint pan lines are $.50 each (not really a bargain, but we were here).

It’s a good place to load up.

(I told Ava to say “cheese”.)

Last summer I also bought this table for my studio for $40 at the ReStore.

It holds all of my metallic paints, my denim tools, my beads and foils. I need ALOT of storage.

One of these days I’ll be brave enough to show you the whole studio.

I gotta be sure you like me first. I don’t want any of you to see it, be terribly disappointed, and then hit “un-follow”.

I know you’re still reeling from me not having Ava strapped in.

We’ll ease into it.

Many blessings,
jennifer

Okay Jennifer, after our last conversation I looked up the Habitat store. Now after this post I must get The Hubster take me there! I don’t do the Beltway. Long story.
Littliest always is riding on the back of the cart. One day at Home Goods he fell asleep back there and I just placed pillows on top of him. The cashier just looked at me when she saw that he had been under there! Ha! Now his new fave spot is under the cart.

Ava absolutely cracks me up…she seems like so much fun! I’m totally curious about your studio – there must be magic in there! You’ve inspired me to tackle some faux projects around here, I’m tired of builder’s beige in my house! 🙂

Is it wrong to put the kids back there? I figured if they were old enough to undo the safety belt, they could ride anywhere they wanted to!

You should definitely show us the studio in all its glory!

what?????? do they all have that same stuff for same price? I need cab doors so bad – I found a local re-use place in the deeps of Detroit, but they wanted quite a bit for their doors…. wow $1 each…..

    Ava is da bomb…..
